"Sundog"
A sundog is a natural event caused by the refraction of sunlight through atmospheric ice crystals. As the light deflects, it creates iridescent reflections of the Sun along the horizon line. This awe-inspiring phenomenon is the basis for local artist Brooke Eide’s Sundog Series, a collection of painted paper sculptures. Using gouache, gold leaf, and layered paper, her work reflects the connection between light, atmosphere, and sky, and the inspiration that lies within it.
